Wild Lockdown: Greenfinch

20 April 2020

PIERA BERETTA 2020

At the beginning of lockdown we had a lot of greenfinches (Chloris chloris) in the garden. They often arrived together with the house sparrows. The males(top photo) are strikingly green/yellow whereas the females (bottom photo) could be mistaken for a female house sparrow was it not for the yellow in their wings.

At the moment we no longer see them in our garden. I hope they are busy at their nests and will come back once their young ones will have fledged.
