Wild Lockdown: A Symbol of Hope

10 April 2020

PIERA BERETTA 2020

The reintroduction of the white storks (Ciconia ciconia) in Switzerland has been very successful since the mid 1960s. I remember how excited I was a child whenever one landed on one of the houses in the neighbourhood. I love these magnificent birds, not only because they are a symbol of much needed hope, but also because they travel between Africa and Europe.

I often observe this nest which is not far from our home and still accessible during the current lockdown.
